B-H Supplementary School (Ongoing project)

Bosnia Herzegovina Supplementary School has opened its door in September 2000 to all children age 7 to 15 years old. For last 10 years, more than100 children have been attending classes in Bosnian language. The project has been funded by organisation, donations, fees and small Grant from Derby City Council.

Aim of the Project

  • to improve children’s general knowledge in history, geography and maths, which is going to help them with their National Curriculum at regular local schools.
  • learn to speak mother tongue and learn to write both alphabet (Latin and Cyrillic script).
  • to enhance knowledge and learn more about culture and tradition of their fathers and mothers.
  • to gain general confidence and learning skills.
  • help them to improve their progress at regular school and to learn about quality of this society.

Benefits to the children:

  • improve communications
  • wider knowledge in history, geography and maths
  • get knowledge of the Bosnian history and culture
  • integration and cohesion into this society

Time and Conditions:

  • every Saturday from 13.30 – 15.30
  • qualified and CRB check Bosnian teacher
  • annual fees of £30.00
  • enrolment in September each year
  • signing agreement parents – DBHCA
